I've been around real estate and financing my whole life.
After graduating from the University of Texas, I became a residential loan officer. I still lived in the student neighborhood of West Campus, and it seemed a natural fit to start buying distressed property to renovate and hold for rental.
Twenty years later, my family has moved a few blocks north, and I've learned a lot about the mortgage business, renovating old houses, and being a landlord to everyone from frat boys to crazy Austin hippies.
